The HPM5000B is our most popular all-round BLDC motor: 5kW class power in an 11 kg, fan-cooled package that runs on anything from 48V to 120V. It's the go-to choice for electric motorcycle and scooter conversions, go-karts, golf carts, utility vehicles, small boats and industrial drives.

48V Bench Test Results

From the factory test data (linked below), at 48V the HPM5000B delivered 5.42 kW of output at its rated point (14.5 N·m at about 3,480 rpm, 86% efficiency), with a maximum output of 6.66 kW and maximum torque of 24.1 N·m. Peak efficiency of about 91% comes in around 2 to 2.5 kW, the range most builds cruise in.

Choosing a Controller

Pick your controller by the power you'll use continuously and match it to your battery voltage. Popular pairings:

• 48V: EZkontrol 48V in the A48500 size (3–5 kW)
• 72V: EZkontrol 72V in the A72500 size (4–7 kW)
• 96V / 120V: EZkontrol 96V or EZkontrol 120V

Oversizing the controller is safe, since the motor only draws the current it needs. Keep the controller's max bus current at or below your battery BMS's continuous rating. Need a lower-power setup instead? The 3kW HPM3000B is the step down, and the 10kW HPM10KW is the step up.
