What I found most delightful about ordering from Golden Motor is the fact that an actual, human answered the phone on my first call, took my order and shipped it the same day. This, as opposed to another CYC dealer in the US (who shall remain un-named in this review) who does not answer calls and forces a person to schedule a "technical support callback" days later. I needed to order parts for my commuter bike yesterday, not days later. I received the shipment from Golden Motor in less than a week here in Alaska, and got my bike up and running.
I originally purchased this display as an option with the CYC GEN2 pro motor conversion kit. The display worked fine since Feb 2021 with no problems until one day recently the system would not power up. No indications why it failed. I thoroughly inspected (including opening the case and pad) for water ingress, corrosion or physical damage and found no evidence. The unit was pristine, clean and dry. It simply failed one day out of the blue. When it failed, I initially condemned the BAC2000 controller, but when I plugged another controller into the display it would not power up either, so I incuded a new display in the order for a controller upgrade kit. Both controllers powered up and worked with the replacement display. This failure could have left me on the side of the road during a long trip, so I'm going to carry a spare on long trips. So now I have a new CYC controller that I haven't used yet, since the BAC2000 is still functional. I had no way of knowing whether the controller or display was at fault without ordering both to fix it.
Naturally, with only a 1 year warranty, the display was not eligible to be replaced. I had to buy it. Sad story, but true.
