The steel 40T kit for riders who wear out aluminum rings

If you ride your BBS01 or BBS02 hard, especially off-road, on cargo builds, or anywhere grit gets into the drivetrain, this is the 40T Lekkie package built to last. Instead of the 7075 aluminum used on the standard Bling Ring, the ring in this kit is machined from heat-treated 1045 steel and nickel plated for a clean silver finish. You get Lekkie's low 40T climbing gear and wide offset, with teeth made to go the distance.

What's in the box

• 40T Bling Ring of Steel chainring (1045 steel, nickel plated)
• Lekkie Drive Cover V2 - CNC 6061 aluminum, black anodized
• 2mm Bling Ring spacer (6061 aluminum) for chain-line adjustment
• Antijam block (PETG) - fills the gap between ring and motor so a dropped chain can't wedge in, and keeps stones from getting trapped behind the ring

Why a 40T needs the drive cover

A 40-tooth ring is too small to clear the stock Bafang gear cover. Lekkie's Drive Cover V2 is slimmer than the factory cover, which frees up the room the 40T ring needs. That's why this is sold as a complete package. Do not run a 40T ring without the Lekkie drive cover, or the ring will be damaged.

Steel vs. aluminum: which 40T should you buy?

• Choose steel if longevity is the priority: high-mileage commuters, cargo bikes, trail riding, or anyone who has worn out an aluminum ring before.
• Choose aluminum if weight is the priority and you mostly ride clean, paved routes. See the aluminum 40T BBS02 package.

Chain compatibility

Optimized for 10-12 speed chains, including Shimano 12-speed, SRAM Eagle 12-speed and KMC. It will run 8-9 speed chains, but a narrower 10-12 speed chain is preferred. Not compatible with half-link chains, KMC X101 or KMC Z1eHX.

Install tips

• Fit the drive cover before the ring. See the Bling Ring of Steel user manual for the full procedure and offset settings.
• Use the included 2mm spacer to move the chain line outward if your build needs it.
• Lekkie also offers an optional bolt-on chain guard for extra chain retention.
• Pair it with a Lekkie Onenut lock nut for a clean, secure finish.
