Product Description

The GMX HyperTorque 7kW is a 72V axial flux motor that delivers 18kW peak and 110 N·m of torque straight off the shaft, with no gearbox, and weighs just 15 kg. It's a strong fit for lighter e-motorcycle conversions, go-karts, small utility vehicles and electric boats where you want serious torque without the size and weight of a radial motor.

Why the HyperTorque

  • Huge torque for its size. The axial flux (YASA-type, single stator, double rotor) design packs far more torque per kilogram than a conventional radial motor of similar power.
  • No gearbox needed. 110 N·m peak at the shaft means most builds can run a direct chain or belt drive.
  • More top speed with field weakening. With a field-weakening controller, the motor can run up to about 60% above its rated speed without raising battery voltage.
  • Efficient and quiet. Over 90% efficiency, low cogging torque and low noise, with regenerative braking support.
  • Built in temperature sensing. A KTY84-130 sensor is installed so your controller can protect the motor.
  • Sealed. IP65 rated, natural (passive) cooling.

Choosing a Controller

Size your controller to the power you'll actually use continuously. For this motor's 7kW rating we recommend the EZkontrol 72V Universal BLDC Controller in the B72800 size or larger. Oversizing is safe, since the motor only draws the current it needs. EZkontrol controllers support both sinusoidal (FOC) and trapezoidal control.

Your battery sets the voltage (72V nominal) and limits how much current you can safely pull, so set the controller's max bus current at or below your battery BMS's continuous rating.
