A must for peace of mind
If you upgrade controller or just want to avoid catastrophic failure down the road you want to install this with any new BBSHD. Don’t forget to clean old grease out and it’s recommended to use Mobil 28 grease on new gears. Bafang changed the cover plate screws internally to security star bolts; these are the ones with a pin in the middle. So get some security star bits and a pair of snap ring pliers before you start the install.
