Bafang BESST Programming & Diagnostic Tool

The Bafang BESST Tool (Bafang Electric Smart Service Tool) is Bafang's official proprietary diagnostic and programming interface for e-bike motor systems. Whether you're a shop technician, a dealer, or an advanced DIY builder this is the tool you need to diagnose, calibrate, update firmware, and fine-tune your Bafang-powered e-bike.

What Can the BESST Tool Do?

• Firmware Updates — Flash the latest firmware to your Bafang motor, controller, and display to improve performance and fix bugs
• Error Code Reading & Clearing — Read and clear fault codes from your Bafang drive system for fast troubleshooting
• Motor Calibration — Calibrate torque sensors and match the motor to the controller for smooth, accurate pedal assist
• Speed Limit Settings — Adjust the speed limit on your Bafang system
• Wheel Diameter Configuration — Set the correct wheel size so your display shows accurate speed and distance
• Parameter Adjustments — On supported CAN-bus models (M510, M560, and newer), adjust pedal assist levels, power output per mode, and motor response behavior
• System Diagnostics — Read motor serial numbers, hardware and software versions, and monitor real-time sensor data for preventive maintenance

The BESST tool supports both CAN-bus and UART protocol Bafang systems, making it compatible with virtually the entire Bafang motor lineup:

CAN-bus Mid-Drive Motors:
M200, M210, M300, M400, M420, M430, M500, M510, M560, M600, M620 (Ultra), M800, M820

UART Mid-Drive Motors:
BBS01, BBS02, BBSHD, Ultra M620 (UART version)

Requirements

• Windows PC (required to run the Bafang BESST software)
• Bafang BESST software — available for download from the official Bafang website (bafang-e.com)
• Bafang dealer/service account credentials are required to access firmware downloads and online features

⚠️ Important Warnings

• Incorrect use of this tool can damage your motor controller, display, or motor. If you are not familiar with Bafang firmware and motor programming, please consult a qualified technician.
• Do NOT connect non-Bafang displays (especially the 860C) to the BESST tool during firmware flashing — this has been reported to cause display damage.
• Always ensure you are flashing the correct firmware version for your specific motor model.
