The Bafang BBSHD 1000W mid-drive conversion kit (UART) is the most popular high-power mid-drive on the market. With 160 Nm of max torque and a heavy-duty build, it's the go-to kit for off-road fat bikes, trail builds, sand and steep terrain. It drives through your bike's gears, so it climbs far better than a hub motor of the same power, and the bike pedals normally with the motor off.

For off-road use only. At 1000W, this kit exceeds the 750W limit most US states set for e-bikes, so it is intended for off-road trails and private land. For a street-legal build, see the BBS02B (up to 750W).

I installed this Bafang BBSHD on my Schwinn Boundary 29 and have been very happy with it. The motor has plenty of power and completely transformed the bike. I use it for commuting as well as recreational riding, and it handles my needs without a problem. Installation takes some planning and a little mechanical ability, but once everything is set up properly, the system works great. The power delivery is strong, smooth, and makes hills and longer rides much easier. So far, I'm very impressed with the BBSHD and would absolutely recommend it to someone looking for a powerful mid-drive conversion kit.

I've ridden with the Bafang. BBSHD more than ten years. I wore the old one out after about 12,000 miles. Although I was tempted to buy CYC, I decided to stick with tried and true. Golden Motors seems to be a great company, particularly that they are always willing to speak on the phone.

This is the best motor for normal e-bike upgrades. I think this is my sixth build and I have tried a different mid drive with a second front sprocket (too loud!), and I tried three different hub motors and didn’t care for any of them. My third BBSHD and I’m a happy camper. Golden did a great job filling my order quickly and accurately!

Great kit

Great kit, price lined up with what I was looking for. Wish there were some proper instructions or a guide. Some parts are labeled most are not, took a while for me to figure out what was what. This was a first build for me and it rips on my cargo bike.
